Parents as Teachers

Parents as Teachers (PAT) is an evidence-based home visiting program designed to support parents and caregivers in their role as their child’s first and most important teacher.

From pregnancy through kindergarten, our Parent Educators partner with families to provide information, encouragement, and practical tools that promote healthy development, school readiness, and strong parent-child relationships.

We believe: You are your child’s first teacher — and we are here to walk alongside you.

What We Offer

Personal Visits
Regular home visits (or virtual visits, when needed) provide one-on-one support tailored to your family’s goals. During visits, we:

  • Share age-appropriate child development information

  • Model parent-child activities that support learning through play

  • Discuss family strengths, goals, and challenges

  • Provide developmental screenings

  • Connect families to community resources

Each visit is individualized — because every family is unique.

Resource Network
We connect families to community resources such as healthcare providers, early intervention, mental health supports, food assistance, housing resources, and more. You don’t have to navigate services alone.

Child Development Screening
We provide developmental screenings to help ensure your child is meeting milestones and to identify any areas where additional support may be helpful.

In 2024, Beginnings, Inc. Parents as Teachers completed the Parents as Teachers Quality Endorsement and Improvement Process and earned the highest designation: Blue Ribbon Affiliate status. Being named a Blue Ribbon Affiliate affirms that our affiliate is among the highest quality members of the home visitation and parent education field, implementing the evidence-based Parents as Teachers model with fidelity and quality.

Our Approach

Our work is built on these core beliefs:

  • Families are strong and capable.

  • Positive parent-child relationships are the foundation for lifelong success.

  • Early experiences matter.

  • Support should be strengths-based, respectful, and culturally responsive.

We are here to encourage, empower, and equip families — because when parents feel confident and supported, children thrive.
